The calendar problem most providers get wrong

Iranian documents are issued in the Solar Hijri calendar. It is a solar calendar like the Gregorian one, but its year begins at the spring equinox rather than on 1 January — and it is not the lunar Hijri calendar used elsewhere in the region. Converting a Solar Hijri date is therefore not a fixed subtraction, and a rushed conversion can shift a date of birth.

If your translated date of birth does not match your passport, the receiving officer sees a contradiction between two of your own documents. We convert each date carefully, state it clearly, and keep the original visible where the document text includes it.

My Iranian document uses a different calendar — how do you handle the dates?

Iranian documents are issued in the Solar Hijri calendar, which is neither the Gregorian nor the lunar Hijri calendar. We convert each date precisely and state it in the translation, keeping the original where it forms part of the document text. This is not cosmetic: the Solar Hijri year does not start on 1 January, so a careless conversion shifts a date of birth by a day or more and puts your translation in conflict with your passport — which stops the transaction.

How do you decide the spelling of a Persian name?

A Persian name can be transliterated several defensible ways. We use the spelling exactly as it appears in your passport, because that is the document the receiving authority matches against, and we keep that spelling consistent across everything we translate for you afterwards.

What is a shenasnameh and why does it need special care?

It is the Iranian civil booklet in which a person’s details are recorded, with further entries added over time for marriage and children. It is not a one-line birth certificate. We translate its entries and pages as they stand, because the officer reading it looks at the entries, not the title.

Do Iranian documents need attestation before translation?

It depends on the receiving authority and the purpose. Tell us where the document is going and we will tell you whether MOJ-accredited translation alone is sufficient or whether an additional attestation step genuinely applies — before you pay for a step you may not need.

Is the translation accepted by UAE authorities?

Yes. It is produced by sworn legal translators accredited by the UAE Ministry of Justice, carries the translator stamp and declaration, and is accepted by the courts, government departments and banks.
