German-language documents reach Dubai from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and they arrive with two distinct profiles. On the corporate side there are Handelsregister extracts, notarial deeds and supply contracts belonging to the substantial German-speaking business community in the emirate. On the personal side there are civil registry certificates and academic records supporting residency, family and equivalency files. Both end at the same requirement: a certified Arabic version stamped by a translator accredited with the UAE Ministry of Justice.
German legal drafting is precise, heavily compounded, and structured around institutions with no direct UAE equivalent. The risk in this pair is not fluency but false equivalence — mapping a German office or corporate form onto an Emirati one that carries different powers.
German documents we translate most often
- Civil registry certificates — Geburtsurkunde, Heiratsurkunde, Sterbeurkunde and Scheidungsurteil, for residency, family and personal status files.
- Certificates of good conduct — Führungszeugnis, for employment and residency applications.
- Commercial register extracts — Handelsregisterauszug, together with Gesellschaftsvertrag and Satzung, for incorporation and licensing in Dubai.
- Notarial deeds — powers of attorney, share transfers and property instruments drawn up by a Notar.
- Court documents — judgments, orders and procedural filings.
- Academic records — Abiturzeugnis, Diplom, Bachelor- and Masterurkunde and transcripts for equivalency.
- Commercial contracts, technical specifications and financial statements.
Who receives these translations
The Department of Economy and Tourism and free-zone authorities, UAE courts, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, notary publics, universities and equivalency bodies, banks, and the German, Austrian and Swiss missions in the UAE.
What makes German legal translation different
- Corporate forms are not interchangeable. GmbH, AG, KG, GmbH & Co. KG and the Austrian and Swiss variants describe different liability structures. We keep the original form in the translation and explain it, rather than substituting LLC and losing the distinction a licensing officer or a judge may rely on.
- Three countries, one language. German, Austrian and Swiss documents use different institutional vocabulary — the registry, the court tiers and the notarial system all differ. We identify the issuing country and translate its institutions as they are.
- Compound terms carry whole clauses. Words such as Vertretungsberechtigung or Gesamtprokura encode an entire rule about who may sign for a company. These are unpacked into accurate Arabic rather than rendered as a single approximate noun.
- Umlauts and ß. Names containing ä, ö, ü or ß appear differently on passports (ae, oe, ue, ss). We follow the passport form and show the German original, so the two documents match on their face.
- Apostille. German-language civil and notarial documents often arrive apostilled. The apostille authenticates the original and is translated with it; it does not replace the certified Arabic translation.
How the work runs
- Send the document. A clear scan or photo of every page, including stamps and anything printed on the reverse, plus the passport page so names match.
- We confirm scope, price and date — usually within one working hour. The quote we give is the price you pay.
- Translation by an accredited legal translator who works in this language pair, not a generalist.
- Review and certification. Names, numbers, dates and seals are checked against the source before the stamp is applied.
- Delivery as a certified PDF and, where you need it, a stamped hard copy collected from our Creek Tower office or couriered.
